Review of Bernard's counselling approach.

Respect, authenticity and patience is what Bernard believes build the foundation for meaningful change. Change that begins with feeling safe, before building trust. The counselling environment is one of mutual respect, non-judging openness and being authentic. That's why his clients feel supported. They feel comfortable seeking counselling in Chinese - Mandarin or Hokkien, and English.

Bernard's Counselling Approach

Why you should work with Bernard.

Counselling for Men, Relationships & Christians

If you're looking for a therapist who can help you untangle life's complexities into practical next steps, Bernard may be the right fit for you.

Instead of leaving therapy with more questions than answers, you'll gain practical insights, clearer perspectives and meaningful ways forward, whether you're navigating relationship struggles, anxiety, grief or a major life transition.

This wisdom and clarity are grounded in years of counselling experience and a broad foundation of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Bernard thoughtfully draws on different modalities to help untangle complex situations into practical, meaningful pathways for healing and growth.

Primary therapy modalities:

  • Person-Centred Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT)

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 & 2)

  • Systemic Therapy

  • Multi-Eye Channel Movement Integration (MEMI)

  • Brain Switch 2.0

Integrated approaches

No two people, relationships or life experiences are exactly alike. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, Bernard thoughtfully integrates psychoeducation, emotional regulation strategies, communication and conflict resolution skills, Prepare & Enrich Pre-Marital Counselling, strengths-based interventions and practical coping strategies according to each client's unique needs and goals.

Christian Counselling

For clients who wish to integrate their Christian faith into counselling, Bernard is also able to thoughtfully incorporate biblical values and principles alongside evidence-based psychological practice, supporting growth in ways that honour both emotional wellbeing and spiritual life.
